ROMAHOME DIMENSION
The Basics
This short-wheelbase motorhome is based on Citroen’s Relay van, not surprising in light of Romahome’s longstanding relationship with the French vehicle manufacturer. Indeed, their smaller model, the Duo Outlook is based on Citroen’s popular Berlingo van.

The Relay is basically the same as the popular Peugeot Boxer and Fiat Ducato vans. It comes with the same level of specification as its sisters including central locking, electric windows, electric mirrors and radio/cassette. The 2-litre common-rail HDi power unit provides reasonably swift progress when needed and you’ll find it fairly refined. The body of the caravan itself is constructed in steel, with a double-skinned GRP high-top. All windows are double-glazed and you’ll be pleased to note that a Heki 3 rooflight has been installed.

First Impressions
You have all the basics needed on board the Dimension. You can’t expect too much in the way of luxury, after all, this model is situated within the budget area of the market. Actually, it’s really rather well-equipped for the price and there’s no sign of any cost-saving inside or out. The standard of both the exterior and interior build-quality is very high. Inside, the wooden furniture is nicely made - no sharp corners here and the colours used on the interior trim are attractive with blue predominating.

Practicalities
You’ll find plenty of stowage space on board where Romahome designers have cleverly incorporated a slide-out wardrobe that’s tall enough for a long dress to be hung. The hanging section is slim but two receptacles for other clothing items that won’t crease are provided.

There’s a fair-sized stowage compartment over the cab and underseat storage within the cab offers yet more space. Two more shallow boxes within the double floor of the carpeted seating area, complete the major storage options.
Flooring at the rear of the van is of the easy-to-clean vinyl variety. The nearside rear box seat contains the gas locker and Romahome have provided a security locker in the box-seat opposite. The Dimension comes with a smoke alarm and fire blanket just in case the unthinkable should happen.

Living Conditions
Night- time illumination is good with plenty of fluorescent lighting and spotlamps providing ample reading light. An Eberspacher diesel-powered blown-air heater will warm the interior when it gets nippy and a Malaga II storage water heater provides hot water.
By using the swivelling cab seats, dining for four is easy around the dining table. Purchasers can opt for either a square or round-leg table. If more seating is required, flatten the offside seat which then becomes a short but comfortable couch.

Cooking, Sleeping and Washing
In the galley, a SMEV four-burner gas hob along with an oven/grill takes care of your cooking, the 60-litre fridge (with freezer compartment) stores your fresh provisions. A cupboard (complete with fire-blanket) and four lockers provide more kitchen storage. The sink is nice and deep while Romahome have intelligently added to the amount of work-surface by fitting a GRP hinged worktop. A raised edge to the work-surfaces keeps spillages from the floor and to to cool things in the kitchen, you can opt for the Fiamma roof fan.

Sleeping arrangements are easily made for. You can take the headrests off the front seats, lower the backs, push the seats forward and after levelling the backs and reversing the rear seats, hey presto, you have beds, it’s much easier than it sounds. The cushions of the cab and front seats provide two quite comfy six- foot singles, a double can also be created but it’s said to be uneven and not very comfortable.

You’ll like the one-piece GRP moulded washroom - there’s no leakage and it’s convenient to use. The basin is of a decent size and you will find a smallish cupboard below it along with a warm air outlet. The tap has separate hot and cold water functions and can neatly be pulled out to provide the showerhead. A shower tray is provided and the shower itself is somewhat larger than you would have thought possible in this mid-size conversion. Railed shelves offer more stowage and a place to hang your towels. A mirror is provided and there’s a useful eye-level locker. Natural light and ventilation come courtesy of a window fitted in the high-top.
